I have had the chance to work with Brian Macuga of Arbor Construction for many home improvement projects. He has brought his extensive knowledge and experience of home construction each time. We have done bathroom and kitchen renovations, which included moving walls and changing floor plans. The last project was a complete over haul of our outdoor living area and a covered porch project. Brian drew impressive plans, kept the project within budget and brought a high quality product to my home. With each project, Brian listened to my ideas and brought more ideas to the table. I spent several days trying to find a contractor for a 203K loan. Because of the nature of 203K's and the lack of knowledge by contractors out there for them, it was really hard to find someone who would take on the project. Thankfully Arbor had no hesitations about 203k. I did find other contractors that would take on the project, but because it was 203k they felt that they could overcharge because of it. I will not name names but those contractors are rated here on Houzz. However, Arbor gave me what I felt was an extremely fair bid for the work to be done. Not only that, they were very flexible at removing and adding in items to fit within the budget that we were given from the bank. They were there the day we closed on the house to start work and got everything done is a very fast amount of time. They are extremely easy to work with, explain all their costs, are very honest and upfront, and best of all they don't try to nickel and dime you. We did have an issue with the tile not being installed they way it was supposed to, but Arbor immediately worked it out and fixed the issue without hesitation and without any extra cost to me. They finished the work on time and actually there was some items that didn't need to be done which saved money in the budget and allowed us to add in a few more items that we wanted to do. I am very happy that I chose Arbor for the project. I absolutely will hire them again if I need a contractor.

My husband and I have just completed a renovation project to our recently purchased Condo in Ballantyne, Charlotte. After collecting estimates from 3 different contractors, we decided to go with Arbor Construction Group. We were impressed from the very beginning with the owner, Brian Macuga’s in person presentation of our estimate. We found Brian to be very personable and friendly. Other contractors sent estimates via email. The project started on time and was completed as scheduled. The supervisor of our project, Joseph was a joy with whom to work. He was considerate of our time as well as the different sub-contractors time. Brian also came by periodically to check on the progress and make sure we were pleased with the work. We highly recommend Arbor Construction and would definitely use them again in the future.

My community (a multi-family community in Charlotte) was made aware of a substantial number of exterior repairs that required immediate attention. The extent of the repairs was overwhelming and initially seemed impossible to conquer. As Treasurer of the Home Owner's Association (and later manager of the construction projects for the community), I was acutely aware of the financial state of the community and the need to keep costs down as much as possible - particularly during such a steep economic downturn. I explained our community's situation to Brian Macuga and asked him if he could provide us with solutions and quotes to complete the work. When I met with Brian and walked the property, it was clear that not only did he have the knowledge and experience to complete the work, but also he was able to provide creative and cost effective solutions that would save the community money. The community Home Owner's Association decided to hire the Arbor Construction Group to complete the exterior repairs that included siding repair/replacement, gutter replacement, painting, site work, and numerous miscellaneous items.

Due to the nature of the work, the community had to split the job into numerous smaller projects. Brian was very receptive and understanding of our needs and worked within our project constraints. Throughout the duration of the project, Brian always suggested better ways to complete the work that would provide an equivalent product at a lower cost. The overall project lasted approximately one year. Throughout the project, Brian was extremely responsive. If I ever had a question or needed to meet on site to discuss any issues, he made himself available. Several times, I requested information on alternatives and he provided very detailed and researched answers to help aid the community in decision making.

Before we hired the Arbor Construction Group, my community was very stressed out and burdened by the number of repairs and potential costs of the repairs. After we hired the Arbor Construction Group, the repairs happened quickly, easily, and within budget. I cannot express in words how pleased I am with the work that the Arbor Construction Group completed at our community. Since we came in under budget and within schedule, we continue to move forward with additional repairs that we originally did not think we would be able to complete. Our community is very pleased with the work the Arbor Construction Group has completed and I highly recommend them to any multi-family community!

When we called Brian about upgrading our 25 year old master bathroom, he gave us suggestions that would improve upon our limited idea of replacing the countertops and faucets. He suggested removing soffits over the vanity and shower areas to give the room a bigger feel. We also replaced tile around the shower and whirlpool tub. He suggested keeping the floor tile that had been replaced a few years ago to keep costs down. We are very happy with the end result. Brian worked with us to do most of the demolition work while we were on vacation. During the job, his superintendent was very communicative about the work schedule. All subs were here when they said they would be and did an excellent job. Arbor’s emphasis on customer satisfaction was clear throughout the project. If anything about the job was not up to their high standards, the Arbor superintendent insisted on having it redone. Both my husband and I are from construction backgrounds and are very meticulous, and Arbor Construction Group met or exceeded our expectations in design, construction, and cost.

A large oak fell and destroyed our existing porch, deck and removed a portion of the brick wall. We were glad no one was injured, however we were stressed out. Arbor Construction, Brian Macuga owner and a neighbor came to our rescue. Brian and his team provided a detailed estimate on replacing the damage, which the insurance company readily accepted and the work started. While we were stressed, we were not concerned because we have seen Arbor’s work previously and the work was first rate. Arbor kept us informed, answered all our questions and made suggestions on the design and was flexible with the final outcome. The Arbor Construction Group contracted with us to build a Sun Room addition onto our new home at Sun City Carolina Lakes in Indian Land, South Carolina. Brian Macuga, the owner of Arbor, was very professional in his approach to this project. After a meeting with Brian to discuss what we were looking for in this sun room he presented us with an excellent written proposal that outlined the materials and labor necessary to complete the job and a set of terms and conditions. The whole experience was great. The job site was always left neat at the end of a day’s work and the room was completed in a timely fashion. We used Brian Macuga, owner of The Arbor Construction Group, at our home, to replace (1) our driveway, (2) the retaining brick wall that supported the driveway as we are on a sloped lot, (3) our garage floor, (4) stairs from the garage to the house, and (5) sidewalk. We had the sidewalk replaced with brick pavers to copy Colonial Williamsburg sidewalks. The job took exactly three weeks, the time he told us, and this was a major construction project in our neighborhood – you can ask our neighbor! He had to line up several construction crews and did so very smoothly. We do not believe there was a day when there were no workers at our home.

We were extremely impressed with Brian as a person and as a contractor who was very interested in the work that he was doing. He checked on the work daily. The workers he picked were extremely hard workers , very polite, and kept us informed about what was coming next. There were a number of small details that also impressed us, e.g., sealing the door to a garage closet and door to our house to minimize the dust, having the brick that was to be used returned as it was not exactly what we ordered, making sure the garage door sealed properly, after removing the sidewalk leaving a section for several days so that we could come down our steps, cleaning up the street our lawn afterwards, etc. Before the construction started Brian made numerous engineering suggestions on how the work should be done.

The cost was reasonable. He actually made suggestions on how to reduce the cost. For example, the cost to replace the brick stair steps from the garage to our house would cost several thousand; he suggested using wood which we actually like better than the original brick.

We would recommend Brian and The Arbor Construction Group in a New York minute for ANY home construction project – and we are Southerners.
